Current Faculty Openings

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Utah State University is seeking applications for three tenure track faculty positions at the assistant professor level.


Computer engineering (two positions): The department is interested in strengthening its focus on all areas of computer engineering, with a special interest in: trustworthy computing in hardware, embedded systems, reconfigurable computing, and internet of things.




Control systems engineering (one position): Candidates must have expertise in, but not restricted to, one of the following areas: control systems, robotics, unmanned or autonomous vehicles (air, land, sea), and distributed systems.



Candidates should have successfully defended their PhD dissertation in an in electrical or computer engineering or a related field by the time of appointment. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong record of publications, have excellent communication skills, and show an interest in teaching and serve in meaningful ways at the department level. Candidates are expected to build a strong program of funded research and to be effective teachers at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Minimum qualifications are: 

  1. Earned doctorate in an appropriate field.
  2. Ability to teach in the area of expertise.
  3. Ability to conduct and disseminate research in an area within the discipline as evidenced by an established publication record.
  4. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

The ECE Department at USU has about 260 undergraduates, 85 Masters and PhD students, and 16 faculty members who collectively attract $2M/year in external research funds ( USU is located in a spectacular Rocky Mountain valley that
offers year-round recreation and is 80 miles north of Salt Lake City.
