Multipurpose Fabrication Tool
An Electrical Engineering Major's Senior Project
Many fabrication processes share one thing in common: they are carried out by a computer controller machine using XYZ motion. I have built a multi purpose fabrication tool with a solid XZ platform that can easily be adapted to take advantages of several different fabrication methods. Since the XYZ motion is the most expensive portion of these types of machines, the cost is reduced significantly by giving the XYZ motion multiple uses. This multi purpose fabrication tool is constructed using rigid, high precision components for precise repeatable operation including, but not limited to: milling, 3D printing, plotting, stencil cutting, and engraving. This machine brings multiple operations within reach for small business overwear and hobbyists with limited space and financial resources.
