SONAHR: An Open Water Navigational Device
A Electircal Engineering Senior Project
Open water swimming is a popular sport in the United States for fitness, competition and
recreation. One problem with open water swimming, however, is navigation. Swimmers must bring their heads out of the water in order to spot landmarks and correct their direction.
This can combine with waves to cause swimmers to tire quickly or experience anxiety due to disorientation. Many people want to swim but two-thirds of Americans are afraid of deep, open bodies of water (Chadeayne).
