Project Description

The gesture aerial camera is quadcopter with a mounted camera that is controlled by the user's gestures. The device was designed to both be an interesting engineering challenge as well as a fun way to capture footage. Through several months of hard effort in research, physical assembly, and extensive coding, a working prototype was produced. Efforts included studying the particulars of drone flight, such as the thrust produced by battery, motor, and propeller combinations, mounting and soldering physical and electrical components while verifying correct communication lines, and both controller and application programing to provide the control interface used to fly the device. Now that the initial concept has been verified as sound, the next steps are to improve the design of the device to support more features and then to manufacture a more advanced prototype.
